Marble

With its highly polished surface marble has an elegant appearance, as it is a slightly more porous material it is best used in the less busy areas of the kitchen and in bathrooms and bedrooms where the risk of colour staining is reduced. Marble is a metamorphic rock. Geologically this is a limestone, which is re-crystallised through the action of heat and pressure whilst still retaining certain properties of the original material. Marble comes in a tremendously wide range of colours, patterns and veining characteristics.

As marble is a type of limestone, this means that all acid attacks can corrode this stone if not cleaned up straight away. Therefore, take care to prevent materials containing acid such as wine, cola, vinegar, lemon juice and other acidic products coming into contact with the surface as they may stain or damage the surface. Polished marble/stone should be treated like a polished wood surface.
